Unlimited passion for art

Ballet is my life and will always be. There is nothing on the earth that I like to do more. However, being trained as a professional dancer is very challenging and requires a lot of work. Very often I have to stay after classes and go to the library or watch a documental movie that we’ll discuss the next day.

So, when I come home, it’s usually very late. I feel so stressed out and tired that I just want to sit back on the sofa and relax. However, there are evening when I don’t want to stop creating.

When I was younger, I used to attend sessions with a phycologist. There was nothing wrong with me: I’ve always been a rather sociable and positive girl but my parents thought that I didn’t know how to relax. They decided that it might be harmful for my personality in the future and sent me to the doctor.

I have no idea whether they were right or not but I’m glad they’ve sent me to a practitioner because thanks to him I found a new hobby. I started painting.

After we talked a little bit, he told me that expressing my emotions on paper could help me to relax, feel better and learn more about myself. He told that I can choose any kind of visual arts, they would be all equally good for me. I’ve decided that I want to paint.

My parent supported the idea and next day my mom and I went to the store. We didn’t know where to buy canvas because at that time I wasn’t living in London but in a smaller city, so I used wrapping paper.

Drawing is hard. And I’m not talking about techniques or anything like that. The scariest thing in the world is staring at a blank piece of paper and not knowing what to do. Now I’m coping quite well with is, thanks God.

I was surfing the Internet trying to find something inspiring. Then I see an oil painting of shabby books made by Leonid Afremov. Here’s the link. I started to look through his works. They’ve stunned me. So much passion, color, suppressed memories. I’ve never seen anything like that before.

It turned out that he’s one of the most popular artists of our time. His works have travelled the world and can be found in many private collections in different counties.

My favorite paintings are:

  • Kiss in fireworks
  • Capitol at night Washington
  • Misty café
  • Alley by the lake
